Riba!

It is everywhere!  I just can’t seem to escape it.

My job? Even with the program change, though not has heavily involved, still riba.  I help people with their (often times, no interest) loans/retail credit card purchases.  Technically, they are real credit cards, just those cards you apply for at stores like HHgregg and PC richard, you know the ones I mean right?  Where you can’t use it anywhere but the store and its often the “same as cash” promo advertisment.  Yeah that’s what we help them with and often they are not happy with us (I wouldn’t be if I had the card and neglected to follow the specific (yet easy!) terms and was getting 23.99%).

Car? Financed prior to conversion and really there isn’t much of another way to get a working car here.  I don’t have the cash to keep throwing money at a 200$ lemon.

House? One day I would like to have one.  I’ve got it all fantasied in my mind.  Couple bedrooms, though I’d rather have a small/medium sized house with lots of room for some farm critters and the kids (insha’allah) to run and play.  However, I live in America.  Yeah, good luck finding a place to get a home loan without wanting some kind of interest.

School? Even our educations are financed.  My husband wants to become an Electrical Engineer some day (insha’allah, pray for this alot!), which at the schools in our area is going to cost around $80,000.

What’s a poor muslim girl to do? :(   For now, I’ll keep praying that Allah shows me a way out of this shark pool.
